Missing Puzzle Piece Information

Your puzzle has just arrived! You excitedly open the box and start happily putting it together, when uh-oh, you're missing a piece! What do you do?! Puzzle pieces can sometimes seem like socks in a dryer; you know there in there, but you just can't find them. They can easily be misplaced, so make sure you look everywhere before you panic.

Jigsaw puzzles today are made with highly precise automated equipment & machinery so it is very rare to have a missing piece in the sealed box. However unlikely it may seem, puzzle pieces can go missing once the box has been opened. Pieces most often find a cozy hiding place somewhere in your work area, on your couch, embedded in your carpet, hanging-out with your favorite pet, or with a loved-one. 

Carefully search any rooms you used for opening, constructing, gluing, transporting or storing the jigsaw puzzle and be sure to do a thorough search of the packaging and all work-areas and allow some time before notifying the authorities that your piece has gone missing. Lastly, make sure that all of the pieces you've placed belong where they are, so you know exactly which piece you're missing - sometimes pieces can seem appear to be in the right place, but they're not.

Still missing in action? Don't worry, there's still hope!

Your best option is to contact the manufacturer directly (see instructions below); many of them are happy to help and they are the best source for the right replacement(s). An important note: Replacement pieces may not actually be the perfect fit for your puzzle. Manufacturers often replace and/or rotate cutting dies throughout the manufacturing process and to ensure quality measures are met. In some cases, the manufacturer has included instructions for replacing missing pieces on, or inside, the box the puzzle was packaged in.

OK, so the missing piece(s) are nowhere to be found. What now! Here's what you do:

1. Find the brand or manufacturer name for the puzzle. Whether you've purchased a Ravensburger, White Mountain, Educa, Trefl, Ceaco, Springbok, Buffalo, Lafayette, Anatolian, Pomegranate, D-Toys, Jumbo, Heye, Eurographics, Cobble Hill, or any other puzzle, you'll need to know the who it was manufactured by before doing anything else.

2. Which piece do you need? You will need to know the exact one. Just like Battleship, you need to be very specific of the location of the piece to be successful. Count like you would on the game board; B36, for example would be the second column and the 36th row.

3. Get in touch with the manufacturer. Make sure you have the original box and packaging as there may be important information on it which they will ask for. This could include the UPC number, the item number, title of the puzzle, manufacturing lot code, date of production, etc. We have included  the contact information and some instructions from our most popular brands, below.

If your manufacturer can't replace the piece or you have any trouble reaching them, you can try contacting the Puzzle Doctor! He can recreate missing pieces by hand for a cost of about $10 a piece plus shipping. All you need to do is send him a picture of the puzzle image and the hole where the piece would go and he'll masterfully remake the lost piece! Please note Jigsaw Jungle has no affiliation with the Puzzle Doctor and cannot provide accurate quotes for puzzle piece replacements.

Missing Pieces...A few important things to remember:

1. Jigsaw Jungle International Inc. is a worldwide distributor/vendor and does not manufacturer any jigsaw puzzles or other items.

2. You must first attempt to contact the manufacturer who produced the puzzle that is missing pieces and/or the store where the puzzle was purchased to see if they are able to help you.

3.  Jigsaw Jungle International Inc. does not refund purchases due to missing pieces. A replacement or partial credit may be issued, as determined by the protocol of the manufacturer of the particular item that is missing pieces.
